ARISTOTLES GOLD MEDAL FOR DISTINGUISHED CONTRIBUTION IN PSYCHIATRY:
The International Society on "Brain and Behaviour" announces the Aristotle's Gold Medal Award to scientists that made distinguished contributions in the field of Psychiatry and allied disciplines.
ARISTOTLES RESEARCH AWARD: The International Society on "Brain and Behaviour" announces the 4th Aristotle's Research Award of 6,000 euro for the best submitted paper.
Submissions for the Award can range across a broad range of topics, such as those bridging psychopathology or behaviour with a brain science involving but not limited to neurochemistry, neuropharmacology, neuro-endocrinology, neurophysiology, neuro-imaging, genetics, and animal models of psychopathology. The committee will also consider submissions bridging various disciplines within the realm of clinical psychiatry, epidemiology, and psychopharmacology or other evidence-based treatments. Preference will be given to data-based research papers which endeavour to integrate one of the brain sciences (including genetics and psychophysiology) with behaviour (including psychology, psychopathology and/or clinical diagnosis). The committee will give particular emphasis to how innovative the submission is and to what extent its application will advance research methodology and/or patient care. The paper should be submitted by email at the awards@isbb.gr. Figures and tables should be incorporated in the text according to the authors' judgment. The format of the manuscript should conform to the international instructions. The full text of the paper should not exceed 3,000 words and must be submitted in English by October 30th, 2009. The submission of the candidate(s) should be accompanied by a brief CV of the presenting author (not exceeding 1000 words), an email address for immediate correspondence and (if possible) a mobile phone number. A confirmation e-mail will be sent as soon as possible after receiving the material. (It is the responsibility of the potential candidate to assure that they have a reliable email address where the Scientific Secretariat can contact them). One of the authors should be present and registered for the entire Congress, available for interview if necessary by the Jury, and to receive the Prize (if chosen) at the Congress, typically at its closing ceremony.
All clinicians or scientists who submit a paper for presentation at the Brain and Behaviour Society can also apply for the award, with the exception of, as noted, those already published.
ARISTOTLE'S RESIDENTS AWARD: The International Society on "Brain and Behaviour" announces the Aristotle's Residents Award of 1,000 euros for the best paper written by a resident in Psychiatry.
Submissions for the Aristotle's Residents Award can be papers dealing with any topic relevant to psychiatric training, research or service, regardless of previous publication of the article. The resident submitting the paper should be its first author. The submission should include the paper and its translation into English if it was published in another language. A statement by the Head of the department about the stage in career of the applicants should accompany the submission. Submission way, format and all surrounding details are the same with those of the Aristotle's Research Award.
The deadline for submission of papers is October 30th, 2009
The winner will receive a diploma and 1000 Euros. In addition the winner will be given free registration for the congress and a compensation for travel and accommodation expenses.
RESEARCH AWARD IN CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY, SOCIAL PSYCHIATRY AND PSYCHIATRIC REHABILITATION:
The International Society on "Brain and Behaviour" announces the Research Award in Clinical Psychology and Social Psychiatry of 1,000 Euro for the best submitted paper.
Submissions for the Research Award in Clinical Psychology, Social Psychiatry and psychiatric rehabilitation must deal with the non-biological aspects of mental health and disease including research in the field of psychosocial and psychodynamic psychiatry, rehabilitation, psychotherapy, psychoeducation, psychology etc. Clinical and descriptive psychopathology and epidemiology are not in the areas covered by the award. The award committee retains the right to decide whether the paper fulfils the criteria to be a candidate. All papers should conform to the principles of scientific research and evidence-based science. Submission way, format and all surrounding details are the same with those of the Aristotle's Research Award.
One of the authors should be present and registered for the entire Congress, available for interview if necessary by the Jury, and to receive the Prize (if chosen) at the Congress, typically at its closing ceremony.

POSTER Awards: The International Society on "Brain and Behaviour" also announces 10 awards of 300 Euro each for the 10 best posters which will be presented during the 2009 conference. All submitted posters are considered candidates for the awards, unless otherwise stated by the author(s). During the congress a poster discussion will take place in front of each poster. The specific time will be announced. |
